Epic is a fair description. The much anticipated book from Khaled Hosseini delivers. You are captivated by his storytelling ability from being to end, want to and questing to know; What happened?

β€œIn this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most.”

The book is divided into the characters and their specific story with their contribution, in some ways, conveniently linking to the overall story which is multi generational and vast spanning from 1949 to present day.

At times both intriguing and frustrating you sometimes wish you could spend more time with certain characters, the story is relentless and moves on and you are left hanging for the next piece of the puzzle to fall into place.

Thankfully the pace is solid and we do not relive the same year for each character; but rather cover significant periods in their life in a very compact manner.

Like any great story teller you are swept away into this world and it leaves you satisfied to reach the end; yet sad that you have indeed come to the end for what will now fuel your imagination and enjoyment. A wonderful read
